Severe weather conditions were a reason to suspended temporarily Tor des Géants. However, we already know the winners.
51-year-old Patrick Bohard from Viller Le Lac won the race with the time of 80 hours and 20 minutes. The athlete has almost beaten a record. It is even more admirable if one takes into account a hostile weather that has not make it easy for all participants of the Tor des Géants 2015.
Bohard finished the race on the 5th position in 2013 with a time of 78h47min, to finally win it this year. The French athlete, that in every day life is a Hotel Manager, has started running in 2008. This year he came to the Aosta Valley in July to prepare before the race:
I came mostly to get used to the high quote; in Jura, where I live, peaks do not go higher than 1700 m. Tor des Géants, instead, is 100% mountain.
Giancula Galeati, 32-year-old member of Team Tecnica from Bologna, took the second position. His running adventure began 7 years ago. He came to the finish line only 24 minutes after the winner. Another French athlete, Christophe Le Saux occupied the third position with a time of 81 hours and 19 minutes. Saux was on the Tor des Géants podium several times in his running career.
Although the winners are known, there are still runners on the trail that want to finish the endurance trail race. All become winners if they finish the 330-km- long race within 150 hours.
