Mitt i landet, utan kontakt med havet, ligger en av Italiens 20 regioner: Umbrien. Den har alltid varit italienarna kär, förknippad med medeltida kloster, vacker vild natur, men också vinodlingar, god mat och gudomlig olivolja. Jag åkte ofta hit med min familj när jag var barn.

Jag kommer fram till Champoluc vid middagstid och möts av ett skådespel av färger. Bergen solar fortfarande sina toppar. Det kommer att bli de finaste dagarna under hela sommaren, 25 grader och glasklar luft.

The Monterosa-ski area connects three different valleys: Ayas, where you find Champoluc, Lys, which is the name of the river crossing Gressoney, and Valsesia, with its famous freeride paradise Alagna.

The snow has been falling at the end over the valleys of Monterosa too.

This weekend it is Courmayeur where my guests from a financial company in Stockholm are headed for their annual meeting in the Alps. Despite the fact that my mother and father met there, and that my grandparents are buried in the cemetery of the village, I have not been spending so much time there the last couple of decades.
