It’s about raw power, brain and the love of nature.... From December 16th to 18th ice climbers from all over the world will meet in Cogne in the Aosta Valley for the “Cogne Ice Opening”.

Cogne is considered one of the world premier locations for the sport, where more than 150 spectacular waterfalls of crystal-clear ice form the arena.

Ice climbing combines the allure of the winter sport environment with fast-paced action, intelligence and determination. Ice climbers require great technique, tactical mastery and nerves of steel in executing complex moves in seemingly improbable positions.

The annual event both denotes the start of the season and works as a festive get-together for the community. During the weekend there will be clinics and workshops together with both local and international UIAGM guides, to teach and inspire climbers of all abilities to achieve great new heights. 

Trough sponsor and vendor exhibitions attendees have the opportunity to demo the latest ice tools, apparel, outdoor clothes and equipment. Nightly events include lectures, film presentations, music, food and fun.
