Ski-Randonnee and touring in the area of Champoluc take you to unspoiled and wild parts of the mountain and can be done even late spring when the lift system is closed.

Randonee skiing or Alpine Touring is a form of skiing where you try to ascend the mountain on skis with special skins and bindings attached. Originally skins were made of animal skin (mostly seals). Nowadays it is rather an artificial material that helps you go up to the top on your skis. When you are on the top, you just take skins away and ski down.
