The Swizz resort offers an 80-percent discount on season passes valid for one, three or 15 years.

A whole winter of skiing in Saas-Fee would then be cheaper than a four-day ski pass for the same area - but it will only happen if enough people sign up.

The deal is based on the crowdfunding principle. And kicks in at 99.999 pre-booked ski passes. If the goal isn’t reach the passes will be sold at regular prices.

According to Saas-Fee Tourism the normal sell is around 120.000 lift passes during the season, from one-day passes to full season passes. The crowdfunded ski passes are a step toward balancing the supply and demand. In a statement, the resort says: “In many areas, the surplus of resorts means that costs can no longer be covered. Saas-Fee wants to solve the problem by introducing a revolutionary price concept.” At the time of writing 12195 people have signed up for the deal.
