Monte Rosa Walser Ultra Trail 2014

It is time to start training for Monte Rosa Walser Ultra Trail. The third edition is coming on the 1st August in Gressoney.

The Monte Rosa Walser Ultra Trail is the event for all skyrunning lovers. Organized by the Association Forte di Bard nell’ Alta Valle del Lys in 2013 it crosses the municipalities of Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Gressoney-La-Trinité.

All interested to taking part in one of three categories can register online.

There are two main trails:

  • 50 km-long track with 4000 m positive difference
  • 20 km-long track with 1000 m positive difference

Tracks have been suggested by the athletes Bruno Brunod (Sky Running World Champion and member of the Forte di Bard Team), Franco Collé (winner of the Tor des Géants 2014) and Giancarlo Annovazzi (winner of the Tod Des Géants 2011). This year non-competitive Eco Trail of 5 km will be again prepared for the disable participants in the mountain competition.

The run will start at the Sport House in Gressoney-Saint-Jean, a logistic base for the Monte Rosa Walser Ultra Trail. But the competition is not only to run through, but also to go through, discover, and admire some of the Walser pearls in the Aosta Valley, as well as the view of the Monte Rosa. Along the way of the trail there are many examples of rural Walser architecture. It offers unique landscapes and adventure feeling.
